Finally, a Prototype and Demo!


I started this project just before the start of 2025.  There were a couple weeks, here and there, where I was too busy with other things, or just frustrated with getting this project bootstrapped.  However, after a little perseverance, and too much coffee, I finally reached a point where I'm (comfortable?) sharing the initial results of my hard work: CRWTILES!

For years now, I've had an idea bouncing around my head for a game I'd like to make.  One feature that it must have is for each run to be different from the last (i.e. procedurally generated).  The game didn't need to be 3D, but I want it to be.  However, I don't see a lot of accessible, and freely available tools and libraries available to help me. (now will be the time when somebody here points me to where this work has been already done!)  I can enjoy a good coding challenge, so I began..

And, oh lawdy!  Before starting this project, I had only just played with Blender Python scripts, here and there, and Godot was completely new to me.  I have to say, my experience with using Godot has been mostly pleasant (No namespaces!  'CRWTILES' was chosen to prefix my classes - derived from my initials).  Blender's Python API...  well, I'm getting along. 

Then, there's getting the wave function collapse algorithm and rules just right.  😮‍💨

Anyway, I hope my effort here bares fruit, for both my future game endeavour, and maybe some support from the like of you.  The challenges presented these last few years have left me mostly unemployed, and the clock is ticking to where I'll need to decide if I can earn something here, or spend my time chasing "real" employment. 🫤

In any event, here's to the first big milestone being reached.  Onward!
